DAS-8 From $425
8-Channel Economical High Speed A/D Converter
and Timer Interface For IBM PC/XT/AT and Compatibles

The DAS-8 is an 8 channel 12-bit high speed A/D converter and timer/counter board for the IBM PC and compatibles. For easy installation, all connections are made through a standard 37 pin D connector that projects through the rear of the computer. To ensure versatility, the DAS-8 provides the following functions: An 8 channel 12 bit successive approximation A/D converter with sample hold with full scale input of each channel of + 5 volts an a resolution of 2.4 mV. It features fail safe single ended inputs with a common ground that can withstand a continuous overload of +30 V. A/D conversion time is typically 25 m S, and using the supplied software driver, through puts of up to 4000 samples/s are attainable. The hardware will support 30,000 samples/s in assembly language.

A programmable counter timer provides periodic interrupts for the A/D converter and can be additionally used for event counting, pulse and waveform generation, frequency, and period and pulse width measurements. There are three separated down counters available; one is connected to a submultiple of the systems clock, and all I/O functions of the remaining two are accessible to he user. 7 bits of TTL digital I/O provided are composed of one output port of 4 bits and one input port of 3 bits. Each output will handle 5 standard TTL loads. One precision + 10.00V reference voltage is available on the board.

An external interrupt input is provided that is jumper selectable for any of the IBM PC interrupt levels 2-7 and allows interrupt routines to provide background data acquisition or interrupt driven control. IBM PC buss power (+5, +12, -12) is provided along with all other I/O connections on the rear connector. This makes for simple addition of user designed interfaces, input conditioning circuits, expansion multiplexes, etc. The utility software is included at no additional expense with the DAS-8.
